Cape May / Wildwood Fishing Reports
We had several good reports of Stripers caught on the oceanside beaches in Cape May this week. Anglers fishing the end of the outgoing tide with bloodworms did well however most fish were schoolies in the 18-25 inch range. We also had a few reports of some short and keeper size Stripers caught on the Delaware Bay side just north of the Villas. Anglers used clams, bunker and bloodworms from the beach and boat to land the Striped Bass there. The local party boats reported good catches of Tog in the 4- 6 lb. range at the area reef sites on Saturday, however high winds kept most boats at the dock on Sunday. Anglers used green crabs, clams and shrimp on Tog jigs or rigs to land the Blackfish. The warmer weather seems to have improved the Striper bite lately and fishing will continue to get better as spring continues. There have been plenty of bunker in the ocean and bay lately so be sure to bring a snag hook (weighted treble) with you in case you come across any schools of bunker. Live-lining a bunker or using fresh bunker chunks will greatly increase your chances of landing a big Striper. Tight lines, Cape May Bait and Tackle.
